Privacy and cookies

Browser edition · 5 October 2026

Your MRI is processed on your device. MRI files, image contents, filenames, NIfTI headers, segmentations and regional volumes stay local and are never sent to MS-PINPOINT or a third party.

What happens when you add a scan?

First, the app downloads the public model, image-processing libraries and a public MNI example from this site. It checks the model and example against their published SHA-256 hashes and starts a local processing worker. File selection is enabled only after the engine is ready. Network calls are then disabled in the app and processing worker.

Your chosen file is read into browser memory. Image preparation, model inference, result recovery and display run locally using JavaScript and WebAssembly, with GPU acceleration when supported. The app does not save scans or results in cookies, local storage, IndexedDB, a service worker or a server. Use the download buttons to save results yourself.

Clear & reset stops the worker, releases viewer volumes, clears the app’s scan buffers and reloads the page. Closing the tab also ends the session. This is not a guarantee of forensic erasure from device memory, browser crash files, operating-system swap or software installed on your device.

Internet requests and hosting

Opening this site and downloading its public assets makes ordinary HTTPS requests to Vercel, our hosting provider. Those requests reveal connection metadata such as your IP address, browser request headers, the requested public URL and request time. Vercel may process this metadata for delivery, security and operational logging under its own retention practices. These are website requests; they do not contain your MRI or results.

The browser can cache public model and library files to reduce later downloads. It does not cache MRI data through this app. All runtime assets are served from this site; Hugging Face, GitHub, PyPI and jsDelivr are build-time sources, not recipients of visitors’ scans. Following an external research or GitHub link opens that provider’s website and its privacy rules apply.

Cookies, storage and consent

This browser app sets no cookies, uses no analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, third-party embeds, accounts or persistent identifiers, and does not sell or share scan data. No non-essential storage or tracking is enabled, so there is no cookie-consent banner to accept. The public-asset HTTP cache is used to deliver the engine you request.

If optional analytics, cookies or tracking are introduced, this notice and the app must change, with prior consent and a working reject/withdraw option wherever required. A hosting platform does not remove privacy obligations: the same approach applies whether this app is hosted on Vercel or GitHub Pages.

Research use and your device

MindGlide is a research tool, not a diagnostic or treatment decision tool. Use only scans you are authorised to process on the device you are using. Browser extensions, a managed device, a compromised computer or changes to this site’s software can affect local privacy; the app cannot control them.

Contact and related notices

Questions or concerns about this app: a.eshaghi@ucl.ac.uk. Request information about website request metadata through this contact; MS-PINPOINT cannot retrieve a scan that was never sent to us. See Vercel’s privacy policy, hosting privacy information and the main MS-PINPOINT website notice. The main website has separate features and page-speed measurement; this segmentation app does not include them.
